Vulnerable Sevenoaks pensioner targeted

A suspected distraction thief has been charged with stealing money from a vulnerable pensioner

The man is alleged to have knocked on the door of the 90-year-old woman on Sunday 15 September 2024, at an address close to Tonbridge Road.

He is reported to have engaged the victim in conversation, before entering the property uninvited. After the suspect left, the victim later noticed £30 missing from her purse.

Remanded to court

Ambrose Treeby, 40, of Queen Street, Paddock Wood was arrested on Tuesday 17 September and taken into custody.

He was charged with burglary and remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 18 September.
