The UKs newest local radio station launched this morning. West Kent Radio, which you are listening to, formally opened at 10am this morning, with programme controller Chris Manser presenting the first programme.
Tunbridge Wells Soroptimists celebrate 75 years since their charter was introduced in 1949. As part of their special year, the Soroptimists have provided a new bench in Dunorlan Park Tunbridge Wells, which was unveiled this week.
The South Coast Ambulance Service is supporting this year's Poppy Appeal. All of their ambulances will carry a poppy, with twelve vehicles showing a large poppy design on the side of the ambulance.
Sevenoaks District Council and Tonbridge & Malling District Council are among others across Kent who are taking part in a scheme to provide electric car charging points. The plan, in association with Kent County Council and Connect Kerb, is designed to provide four or more charging points in every car part in the districts. KCC cabinet members for the environment, said: “I hope more people will consider making the switch to electric and contribute to reducing our collective carbon footprint.
Following the budget yesterday, the fire and rescue service in West Kent could be affected by the lack of new government funding. Fire Brigades Union general secretary Matt Wrack said “The fire and rescue service must be able to provide for every member of the community – but the government is failing to fund it to do that.”
Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged attack on a tax driver in Tunbridge Wells. The incident is reported to have occured on Saturday the second of October near Culverden Down.
