West Kent Radio News, I'm Nigel Peacock

The United Kingdom's newest local radio station launches today and you're listening to it.

West Kent Radio formally opens with this news new bulletin, followed by our first live programme with Chris Manser.

The station covers Tonbridge, Southborough, parts of Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells, from purpose build studios.

Programmes include local information, including news of local events. Lynn Briggs from the events team explains:

Local news will form an important part of the output, along with a look at local landmarks across West Kent

West Kent Radio will play a wide range of music from across the decades. There are specialist programmes including Pure Unsigned, which looks at local artists and bands. Presenter Phil Mills explains

Your new local station has two FM transmitters. Bidborough Ridge on 95.5 covering Tonbridge and the second on Mount Ephriam, for Southborough and Tunbridge Wells is on 106.7. The station can also be heard on smart speakers by saying 'Play West Kent Radio'
